Theresa made her stage debut at the age of 7 as Snoopy in her school’s production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. Since then, she has appeared in dramas (e.g. Berenice in “Member of the Wedding”), musicals, (e.g. Nell and Armelia in “Ain’t Misbehavin;” ), children’s theatre (e.g. Judge Prudence in “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs”) and new works (e.g. Hattie McDaniel in “Tallulah and Hattie: Dead at the Pearly Gate Cafe”). Theresa has also appeared in two Suzi Bass Award nominated shows: “Smokey Joe’s Café” at Atlanta Lyric (3 nominations including Best Ensemble) and “I Dream” with Musical-Dramatic Arts (10 nominations including a win for Best World Premiere).
In 2008, Theresa was one of five performers chosen to develop an original performance piece with India.arie titled “A Black Girl’s Song”.
Theresa won the 2013 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her performance as Sofia in “The Color Purple” at Toby’s Columbia.
